UPDATE (August 8, 2024) – The program reopened for new applications from eligible senior renters in District Five only, from July 16 through August 5, 2024 (Round 3). Applications received after the above deadline, or from renters in other City Districts during this third application period (Round 3) are ineligible. A lottery will be held for this application cycle in early September to establish a numerical order for processing applications. Once this takes place, the new District Five waitlist will be coded and posted here: www.miamigov.com/SRAP-Round3.
Applicants to Round 2 of the Senior Rental Assistance Program, which closed on January 2, 2024, are still being processed at this time. Applicants from Round 2 continue to be called in numerical order (1, 2, 3 and so forth) from District waitlists. Those are coded and posted on the following web page: Waitlist Results for Senior Rental Assistance Program 2nd Round. Once called from the waitlist by staff, the applicant will then be asked to submit all necessary pending supporting documentation required by the program, to ensure that the applicant meets all eligibility requirements and that their assistance can be processed.
NOTE: In order to qualify, the applicant’s rent must be current. This program cannot pay past due rent or rental arrears. Persons with past due rent should contact 211 (via phone) to see about available community resources at this time.
The City of Miami Senior Rental Assistance program provides up to $500 in rental assistance, based on need, to qualifying senior (age 62 and up) applicants who are renters in the City of Miami, are 50% AMI and below, and spend more than 30% of their income towards rental housing costs.
If an applicant is approved, the assistance amount is issued directly to the applicant’s landlord on a monthly basis, for a 12-month period. Please note, if you are a current Section 8 client or reside in Public Housing or in a Sec. 202 project, you are INELIGIBLE for this program.
