The City of Miami Public Art Division administers competitions to select artists to create artwork for selected capital improvement projects. When available, notices about these competitions will be posted to this web page.

Permanently Sited

 The City’s artwork collection includes permanently sited and integrated works. Artwork is commissioned through a public process. The City stewards and maintains its artwork through an ongoing program of coordinated conservation activities, which include inspections, major restorative work and routine maintenance.

Portable Works of Art

The City's portable works collection is a collection of artwork in various forms of media, representing a diverse group of artists collected by the City since 1967. The collection includes sculptures, paintings, mixed media, prints, photography and textiles.

We invite you to navigate your own course through the City and discover art in unexpected places. In addition to the artworks listed on our interactive map, we hope that you will venture into Miami's many neighborhoods and find other engaging works of art. Recently Completed Public Art Installations

On January 12, 2017, the City of Miami Commission pursuant to Ordinance No. #13657, re-established the Art in Public Places Program. The Program specifies that 1.5% of eligible public capital improvement project funds be set aside for the commission, purchase, and installation of artworks in a variety of public settings.

Cultural and Educational

Pursuant to Section Sec. 62-661 of the Art in Public Places Program, grants will be awarded based on available funding and upon the adoption of Phase II of the Program. Grants may be awarded for cultural, education, community outreach or advocacy purposes, which may include social practice art. Artwork should be designed to promote the visual and performing arts as identified in the Public Art Master Plan.

Restoration or Rehabilitation of Historic Resources

Pursuant to Section Sec. 62-661 of the Art in Public Places Program, grants will be awarded based on available funding and upon the adoption of Phase II of the Program. Grants may be awarded for the following:

• The restoration or rehabilitation of either publicly or privately owned historic resources that are individually designated or identified as contributing structures within a locally designated historic district.
• Public improvements within a historic district as identified in the Public Art Master Plan.
