Keep Safe Miami Program
Keep Safe Miami is a new program which will equip affordable housing owners and operators with tools to assess their buildings' resilience to climate change and natural disasters, and provide them with actionable strategies and guidance on financing to address these vulnerabilities.
Keep Safe Miami seeks to serve multi-family properties providing affordable housing at 80% Area Median Income (AMI) or below. Program participants (building owners) will be required to evaluate their properties using the free-of-charge, online Keep Safe Miami tools which are accompanied by a series of trainings. Multi-family owners interested in applying to participate in the Keep Safe Miami program, may do so here (look for green button). Program capacity is limited so not all participant applications may be accepted.
Affordable multifamily property owners and operators interested in the program are asked to register for one of two trainings, March 4th or 24th. Training will offer a deeper dive into the Portfolio Protect and Building Protect tools, as well as specific hazards and associated strategies. Keep Safe Miami is asking that all applicants attend one of these sessions prior to utilizing the tools. Please visit https://www.enterprisecommunity.org/impact-areas/resilience/keep-safe-miami to register.
The Keep Safe Miami Loan Program was developed by the City of Miami in partnership with Enterprise Community Partners, in order to provide affordable housing owners with financial assistance to make improvements to eligible multi-family rental properties that will enhance the property’s resilience to climate changes and natural disasters. The program is funded via the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Details are forthcoming on when, and how, to apply for the Loan Program. Additional details will be posted here once available.
