Federal regulations governing CDBG, and other HUD programs require that a participating jurisdiction provide citizens with reasonable notice of and an opportunity to comment on any new allocation and/ or amendment of HUD programs.  In addition, the public is advised of the new allocation(s)/ amendment(s) to the funding of the city program(s) as indicated below: *

  1. Discuss and proposed resolution authorizing by a four-fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote, after an advertised public hearing, ratifying, approving, and confirming the City Manager's finding, that competitive negotiation methods and procedures are not practicable or advantageous for the City of Miami ("City") pursuant to Sections 29-b(a) of the Charter of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended (“City Charter”), and Section 18-182(c) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended (“City Code”); waiving the requirements for said procedures; authorizing the City Manager to transfer, with restrictions and automatic reverted provisions, the city-owned parcel of land located at 1613 NW 54 Street, and 1625 NW 54 Street, Miami, Florida, (“Parcel”), to Urban Greenworks, inc. (“UGM”); a Florida not for profit corporation, to be used for the development of a community garden (“Nutrition as Medicine”) project.
  2. Discuss and proposed resolution authorizing the allocation of CDBG funds in the Public Service category, in the amount of $802,206.00, to the agencies and/or departments, as specified below for public service activities for FY:2023-24.

* The adoption of an Ordinance or Resolution by the City Commission, related to the proposed funding recommendation(s)/ amendment(s), authorizes the City Manager to draft/amend the appropriate City of Miami Action Plan.

† † This item(s) will be available for public comment and review for a period of no less than 30 days. The review and comment period begins on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, and ends on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. The proposed amendment(s) will be presented to the City Commission for approval on Thursday, September 14, 2023.  Draft copies of the agenda items will be available at the City of Miami Department of Housing and Community Development office located at 14 NE 1 Avenue, 2 Floor, Miami, FL 33132 (HCD Address).  Comments to amendment(s) must be submitted to: nancyromani@miamigov.com, Attn: Nancy Romani, and must be received no later than September 13, 2023. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend this Public Hearing.
