The City of Miami has launched three new COVID-19 response programs in an effort to provide rental assistance and relief for small businesses.  The programs are being facilitated by the Department of Housing and Community Development, CONTACT communitydevelopment@miamigov.com and consist of: 

  1. The Emergency Rental and Utility Assistance Program: Provides a one-time rental and/or utility assistance to City of Miami households that suffered job loss related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will provide relief payments of up to $1,500 directly to landlords and/or utility companies to cover rent and utility costs on behalf of qualifying households.

  2. The Small Business Emergency Loan Program: Provides forgivable loans between $10,000 and $20,000 to qualified, for-profit businesses in the City of Miami to help cover allowable business expenses including, but not limited to, rent, salaries of current employees, and utilities.

  3. The Business Continuity Micro Enterprise Program: Provides grants to qualified, for-profit businesses located in the City of Miami with five or fewer employees including the business owner, that are considered non-essential (Miami-Dade County Emergency Order 7-20) and were ordered to close under the City’s shelter in place order. Eligible businesses can receive up to $10,000 to pay for up to three months of allowable business expenses including, but not limited to, the salaries of current employees, rent, and utility payments.
