Morningside Neighborhood Traffic Calming

The City of Miami is happy to announce that per Resolution R-23-0499, adopted in November 2023, a traffic calming project in the City of Miami will be implemented in the Morningside Neighborhood.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AFTER AN ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO EXPEDITIOUSLY REQUEST THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT (“DTPW”) TO CONSIDER THE PROPOSED TRAFFIC FLOW MODIFICATIONS, WAIVE THE REQUIRED RESIDENT/PROPERTY OWNER CONCURRENCE, AND EXEMPT THE BALLOTING PROCESS IN ORDER TO EXPEDITIOUSLY PROCEED WITH THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICES AT FOURTEEN (14) LOCATIONS, TWELVE (12) IN THE COCONUT GROVE AND TWO (2) IN THE MORNINGSIDE RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS, IN DISTRICT 2, MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO SEND A CERTIFIED COPY OF THE THIS RESOLUTION TO THE DTPW DIRECTOR.

Project Scope:

Design and Construction of two (2) traffic calming devices in the Morningside Neighborhood.

Project Cost Estimate:

$840,327

Project Benefits and Impacts:

Safety – provide safety to the community by placing traffic calming devices to lower vehicular traffic speed.

  • Number of properties impacted: Total = 25 Residential
  • Total property value protected: $46M

Project Boundaries:

The limits of the project are NE 55th Terrace from NE 5th Avenue to North Bayshore Drive.

Road Closures:

Some road closures may occur during construction but will be sequenced appropriately to minimize disruption to the residents.

Estimated Construction Timeline:

  • Estimated Construction Start: Spring 2025
  • Estimated Construction End: Winter 2026
