George K. Wysong

Mr. Wysong joined the Office of the City Attorney in November 1994. He currently serves as the Deputy City Attorney over Land Use, Transactional, and General Government matters. During his tenure with the Office of the City Attorney he has handled all areas of municipal practice including collection and subrogation matters, risk management, code enforcement, building matters including unsafe structures, fire and life safety, special assessments, franchise agreements, Workers’ Compensation, elections, land use and planning, zoning, alcoholic beverage law, nuisance abatement, homeless issues, legislation, City Charter and home rule issues, public records, ethics, among others. In addition he provides advice and counsel to the City's Emergency Operations Center in times of emergency. He provides counsel to the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors and the OMNI CRA.

Mr. Wysong most recently served as the Division Chief over the General Government and Land Use Division. Concurrently he served as the Police Legal Advisor for the City of Miami's Police Department beginning in 1999. In that capacity, he handled matters which affect the Police Department and provided counsel and advice to the Chief of Police and his staff, litigated contraband forfeiture cases, prepared legal bulletins for dissemination to the sworn police officers, taught at the Miami Police Academy, served on the Police Review Committee and the Firearms Review Board. He served as the Chief negotiator in two pattern and practice investigations by the United States Department of Justice and brought them both to a successful outcome.
