Asael Marrero is a result-oriented Executive Leader with over twenty-five (25) years of professional supervisory experience in the architecture / engineering, construction and permitting field, which includes over Fifteen (18) years of diverse County / City government management.
In his previous role as Building Director for the City of Miami, Mr. Marrero provided leadership over the regulatory enforcement of a 4 billion Dollar annual construction industry, responsible for issuing over 27,000 Construction Permits and 200,000 Construction inspections per year. Prior to joining the City of Miami, Mr. Marrero served as the Miami-Dade County Division Director for Design and Construction Services, of the Internal Services Department.
Mr. Marrero holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Design in Architectural Studies from Florida International University, is a long standing member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the recipient of the 2023 AIA Miami Award for Leadership in Government. Mr. Marrero has served since 2018 as an appointed Trust Board Member of the Miami-Dade Arts in Public Places Trust and on March 2023 was appointed by Governor Ron De Santis as a Commissioner of the Florida Building Commission.
Mr. Marrero is a Florida Registered Architect, Interior Designer, International Code Council Certified Plans Reviewed / Inspector and served honorably in the U.S. ARMY Reserve.
