Melissa Fernandez-Stiers serves as Chief of Staff for City of Miami Manager Arthur Noriega V. She works closely with the City Manager on the day-to-day operations of the City, including execution of the Manager’s priorities, coordinating the flow of information from the City Manager to department directors and other key stakeholders, staff oversight, process improvement, and broadening access to municipal services. In this role, she also oversees Government Relations, Agenda Coordination, and the Office of Film and Entertainment. Melissa also assists with key policy initiatives and implementation of same across multidisciplinary subjects. In addition to her experience in the public sector, Melissa has practiced law in the areas of complex and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts, as well as practiced in the areas of land use and governmental relations.
A Miami native, Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Florida International University, and received her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law where she served as an editor of the Florida Law Review. She and her husband, Eli Stiers, are long-time and active residents of the City of Miami, where they are proudly raising their three children.
