Estimated Construction Timeline:
- Estimated Construction Start: Spring 2025
- Estimated Construction End: Summer 2027
Project Community Outreach and Engagement:
The City of Miami understands the importance of sharing, collecting feedback and presenting information to the community regarding capital projects. Throughout the design of this project, the City has held two community meetings:
- First Community Meeting – December 13, 2021, at Simpson Park - At this meeting, the City of Miami gathered information from the residents, tabulating their preferences and needs based on the main four focused areas of the project: A resilient waterfront (seawall), Roadway Improvements, Drainage improvements and a Connectivity (sidewalk by the waterfront). The City presented boards for interactive action with the residents, where they could select the option of their choice. This information was gathered and incorporated into the design that would be later presented to the community at the next public meeting.
- Second Community Meeting – March 19, 2024 at Emerald at Brickell – At this meeting, the City presented the project design based on the input received at the first community meeting (Dec 2021), and feedback was taken for consideration. The next step in the project is to procure a design/build firm by December 2024. Construction of the project is anticipated to start in January 2025, with an estimated completion date of May 2026.
