The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) offers protections for millions of American workers that improve portability and continuity of health insurance coverage as well as privacy and security protections for protected health information.

The Division is responsible for coordinating compliance with the privacy rule of HIPAA for the City’s group health plan, which includes maintaining the City’s privacy notice and other related policies. It is the policy of the City to comply fully with the health information privacy standards of HIPAA.
