The City of Miami provides bulky trash services once a week for homes with green and blue carts. Check your schedule here. Be sure to place bulky trash in front of your home five (5) feet away from all objects the evening before collection day ONLY. Let’s get RID of illegal dumping!

Apartment

If you are a City of Miami resident that lives in an apartment building that uses a dumpster, you CANNOT place bulky trash to the curb for collection. To properly dispose of your bulky trash items and avoid illegal dumping, please contact your property manager/landlord to schedule bulky trash collection from an authorized private hauler. You may also visit the FREE Mini Dump to toss your old couch, furniture, electronics, etc. Let’s get RID of illegal dumping!

Vacant Lot

Dumping at vacant lots is unauthorized and is an environmental crime. Dumped waste often attracts more dumping and illegal activities, decreases community pride and unnecessarily costs the City tens of thousands of dollars every year. All City of Miami residents are encouraged to use the FREE Mini Dump. If you see it, report it to 3-1-1. Let’s get RID of illegal dumping!

Alley/Train Tracks

Dumping in alleys, behind buildings or along train tracks is unauthorized and is an environmental crime. Dumped waste often attracts more dumping and illegal activities, decreases community pride and unnecessarily costs the City tens of thousands of dollars every year. All City of Miami residents are encouraged to use the FREE Mini Dump. If you see it, report it to 3-1-1. Let’s get RID of illegal dumping!

Reporting Illegal Duping In the Act
Dumping trash is an environmental crime. If you see illegal dumping in the act, please dial 9-1-1 to report it.

Report Illegal Dumping After the Fact 
If you see illegal dumping in your community or neighborhood, please report it by calling 3-1-1, using the 3-1-1 app or by filing out this form.

1. What is illegal dumping? 
Illegal dumping is the disposal of waste on public or private property that is not authorized, licensed or permitted to receive waste. Typically, illegal dumpers dispose  construction materials, yard debris or household bulky waste. This action raises significant environmental and economic concerns as it impacts public health and safety, property value and overall quality of life. 

2. Why is illegal dumping a problem?
Illegal dumping is a public health problem that raises significant environmental, social and economic concerns as it impacts the safety of the community, property value and overall quality of life. Some of the biggest factors associated with illegal dumping include soil and waterway contamination, flooding, public endangerment and provides breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes. Dumped waste often attracts more dumping and illegal activities, decreases community pride and unnecessarily costs the City tens of thousands of dollars every year. 

3. Can people be fined for dumping? 
Yes, per Florida State Statute 403.413 and Miami City Code 22.11/22.93, anyone committing illegal dumping can receive fines worth $500 or more. 

4. Can people be arrested for dumping? 
Yes, illegal dumpers can be arrested and sentenced to jail for environmental crimes.

The Mini Dump Facility is open and FREE to all City of Miami residents to dispose of their bulky trash and yard materials.
