Join Commissioner Carollo for "Frank Perez Ave naming in Little Havana

District 3 Commissioner Joe Carollo invites you to the ceremony to designate a street in Little Havana as “Frank Perez Avenue,” in honor of the late founder of the well-known Frank Joyería, former Cuban political prisoner and member of Brigade 2506, and exceptional husband and father, Frank Perez.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, at 2:00 PM.

Frank Perez exemplified courage, dignity, and patriotism, as well as perseverance, hard work, and unconditional love for family values.

After the arrival of communism in Cuba, Frank Perez was forced to flee his homeland. Already residing in Chicago, USA, he traveled to Miami to enlist in Brigade 2506 upon learning of the group's plans to liberate Cuba. He participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion.

Captured during the conflict, Perez spent a year in Cuban prisons before resettling in Miami, where he began selling jewelry from a suitcase, eventually establishing his own store: Frank Joyería.

Perez's Cuban heritage infused his jewelry designs, gaining recognition for their style, quality, and uniqueness. Today, more than half a century after opening his first store in Little Havana, Perez’s legacy endures through his sons, who continue to run the family business alongside their mother, Martica.
