District 3 Commissioner Joe Carollo is pleased to share news of an upcoming ceremony. We will be co-designating NW 45 Avenue between NW 3 Street and NW 7 Street as “Antonio D. Esquivel Way”.

The event is scheduled for today April 30, at 2:00 pm.

Mr. Antonio D. Esquivel was not just a name, but a beacon of social and political activism. His dedication to education, professional endeavors, and activism profoundly impacted the transportation industry in South Florida. Furthermore, he extended a helping hand to countless individuals escaping communism.

Mr. Esquivel's unwavering belief in the defense of democracy led him to actively oppose communist regimes, embodying the spirit of commitment to freedom and democracy.

Commissioner Joe Carollo proposed honoring Mr. Esquivel by naming the street “Antonio D. Esquivel Way”. Commissioners Christine King and Manolo Reyes also sponsored the resolution.

This is a way to honor the significant historical contribution and community benefit that Mr. Antonio Esquivel made to the City of Miami and the community.
