Guide to Getting a Permit

Standard Naming Convention for Drawings & Documents

The City of Miami has issued a standard naming convention for all types of files that will be uploaded into our new Electronic Planning (ePlan), including drawings or plans and documents. Each page shall be uploaded as a separate file. (i.e. If there at 20 pages that makes up your MEP drawings, each page should be named and uploaded individually).

Submit Plans (Drawings) & Documents Electronically

Are you looking to submit or revise plans (drawings) and/or documents to a permit you've already applied for? You can now submit these online for the City of Miami to review electronically.

Digitally Sign & Seal Documents

In the City of Miami's new Electronic Plan Review system (ePlan), you, your architect, contractor, etc. will have to digitally sign and "seal" your drawings and/or documents. This page teaches you exactly how to do so.

In the City of Miami, this is done by utilizing PKI based digital signatures for signing and sealing electronically produced plan sets and other documents requirement professional signature.
