Register as a Building Contractor

Do you want to be a builder in the City of Miami? To build or renovate properties in the City of Miami, contractors must be registered to verify their certification. Contractor registration protects homeowners and the City from legal liability and ensures the structural integrity of our buildings. 

To obtain a permit, all documents must be up to date including company name, email, and phone number.

Steps

Gather the Necessary Documentation

You will need the following to register:
Contractor Documents:

  • A copy of your State License (DBPR) 
  • A copy of your Business Occupational License/ Local Business Tax Receipt (LBT)
  • A copy of your Driver’s License
  • EIN # of the Company
  • Company Name, Address, Email and Phone Number

Certificates of Insurance:

  • Liability Certificate of Insurance
  • Worker’s Compensation Certificate of Insurance

NOTE: Certificates of insurance must be sent DIRECTLY from the insurance provider to eplanbuilding@miamigov.com
Certificate of Insurance must name the City of Miami Building Department as certificate holder* 

Register with the Building Department 

To register a company and contractor with the City of Miami Building Department please send documents the "Contractor Documents" listed above via email to eplanbuilding@miamigov.com.
