Release a Tree Protection Bond

Are you requesting a release of a Tree Protection bond? These legal documents serve as an agreement between you and The City to ensure your construction follows City code as it is applicable to all divisions. 

NOTE: Tree Protection Bonds will remain in effect:

  • For one year after true final Certificate of Occupancy is issued by the City, contingent upon an inspection by the City, and written release thereof and/or
  • Until the Demolition Permit number (if applicable) is issued, finalized and the tree(s) have been inspected.

Steps

Submit Request

Submit a letter request to Environmental Resources - environmentalres@miamigov.com. The request must include the following:

  • Date
  • Owner’s Name
  • Master and/or Process Number
  • Property Address
  • Bond Number Reference
  • Copy of Bond
  • A Certified Arborist Report. (This report must provide a detailed assessment of all bonded trees and their current condition. Report must be no more than 30 days.)

     

Inspection

Once your request has been received by administration, they will advise the respective reviewer and proceed with an inspection to confirm that the project was completed. *Inspections conducted by Environmental Resources is to verify the condition of tree(s).

NOTE: If inspection proves there is a default, the City will proceed with the default process as stated in the bond.

Release of Tree Protection Bond

Once approved to be released, you will be contacted to sign a memorandum confirming the release of the Tree Protection bond and to retrieve the Tree Protection bond as requested.
