Determine Which Kind of Project You are Undertaking

• Certain projects only require a Standard Certificate of Appropriateness (COA). In general, repairs and minor alterations (for instance, a roof replacement using the original historic materials) can be reviewed by staff quickly.  
• Other projects require a Special Certificate of Appropriateness (SCOA) which requires a HEPB board review.  This usually applies to new construction, major additions, demolition, and alterations.
